Dallas City Planning Commission recently approved a proposal to convert Tyler Street and Polk Street between Canty Street and Pembroke Ave from one way to two way operation. The proposed complete street project will improve quality of life by slowing traffic speeds and providing a potential bike lane on Polk Street.

The PowerPoint from the July 2016 public meeting can be viewed here. For additional information, please contact Kimberly Smith, Senior Planner, Mobility and Street Services Department (kimberly.smith@dallascityhall.com).

More information about the project can also be found on Councilman Scott Griggs project website.

McKinney & Cole Two Way Conversion

The City is in the conceptual planning stages of converting McKinney & Cole Ave. from one way to two way from Allen Street to Harvard Ave. The two-way conversion of McKinney and Cole Ave. supports the vision of the Dallas Complete Streets Manual by slowing traffic through residential & commercial neighborhoods, potentially reducing the number and severity of crashes for all modes, and improving the convenience and ease of use of our streets.

While bike lanes will not be included in this project, slower traffic speeds and improved neighborhood navigation due to the two-way conversion will encourage more cyclists to use McKinney and Cole for recreation and commuting throughout Uptown.

The PowerPoint presentation from our August 2016 public meeting can be viewed here. Additional public meetings will be announced in 2017. For information about the project, please contact Kimberly Smith, Senior Planner, Mobility and Street Services Department (kimberly.smith@dallascityhall.com)

More information can also be found on Council Member Philip T. Kingston’s website.
